No-Job-for-a-Woman-line1

‘No Job For A Woman’ was first published in September 2008 and sold out at Dublin Airport
immediately the book hit the stands.

No-Job-for-a-Woman-line1

No Job For A Woman’ debunks the myth that a Private Investigators life is just about staking out sleazy hotels to ‘trap’ a cheating spouse - it’s much more than that.

It crosses borders, is challenging, tough and occasionally glamorous, bizarre, humorous, scandalous and sometimes dangerous but never, ever, dull.

No stranger to dangerous situations, Sandra Mara, has faced knife attacks, death threats, police protection and has even looked down the barrel of a gun on more than one occasion... ‘It goes with the turf’

Ireland's first ever female private investigator lifts the lid on the secret life of the nation. Sandra Mara solved her first case at the tender age of nine. That gave her a taste for intrigue, and she went on to become one of the top private investigators in the country, even winning International Investigator of the Year at the World Association of Detectives.

In ‘No Job for a Woman’, for the first time she opens her case file to reveal some of the most enthralling and outrageous cases she has worked on throughout her career.

This factual work contains stories picked at random from the case files of Sandra Mara and are just a mere sample of the thousands of cases she has investigated over 25 years working as Ireland’s first ever female Private Investigator. Stories included are:

Patricia the Stripper, the Man United footballer and the IRA; the Thai Hooker and the Irish Diplomat; the Case of the Blackmail Cops; the Antwerp Diamonds and the Beit Robbers; the Clairvoyant who Never Saw it Coming; and Has Anybody Seen our Jumbo Jet? As well as these stories,

Sandra provides a fascinating insight into the secretive undercover world of the private investigator a world of bugging, surveillance, cold nights and very real danger.

Heard the author on Marian Finucane and just HAD to buy the book. I really enjoyed the read, true stories you can dip in and out of. You really got the feeling that the author was talking directly to you. I found the book very hard to put down, I just wanted to read one more story. Can't believe the writer did all that stuff, its like something you'd see on TV Does she gives classes or talk - wold love to know more - a fascinating life - would love to hear more.

I have to say I'm thoroughly enjoying this book. Heard the author being interviewed on the radio. One of the girls in the office is reading it as well and we can't put it down. They're fascinating stories and gave a real insight into what lengths some private eyes go to. They are all true stories as well so I enjoyed trying to figure out who the well-known clients in were. Definitely a good read. Loving this book question

I've just finished reading this book and found it very hard to put down. The author gives great insight into the life of a Private Eye a profession which is still shrouded in mystery in Ireland.

Sandra Mara has led the most extraordinary life and I can't help but wish I could sit down with her and be regaled with more stories! Very Entertaining.I'm hoping for a sequel

Great read. Short, snappy stories which pack a punch. As a fan of real life crime books (especially Irish) this one is one of the best in recent years.
Andrea from Dublin

‘Irish women writers are known and respected worldwide for  quality of their fictional work
(aka -by some as- ChicLit), Sandra Mara by telling her story in ‘No Job For A Woman’ has
put the modern Irish women’s factual literature on the map. A great piece ofw ork written to be easily read... a job well done Sandra.
Frederika Sedwards, Sligo, Ireland

Excellent read, very enjoyable and true to life. Sandra is not only an excellent Private Investigator, she was also an excellent teacher as 22 years after doing her course in UCD, I am now the head of the fraud department in a large international insurance company. I would highly recommend this book for anybody who is interested in reading crime, or simply looking for a good book whilst on holiday.
David Snow - Former UCD student of Sandra Mara
